We took a short visit to Louisiana a few weeks ago. It was Julianne’s second trip. At her last visit she was only 5 months old and not walking. She loved to explore outside. She especially loved collecting rocks. It made it hard to walk down any rock road.

I think she enjoyed being around all of her second cousins. We took our trips to the barn to see the animals. She got to ride a horse and enjoyed it! She played in the dirt several times. All in all she did must better with traveling then her first trip.
I came back home with a sore throat that I am still getting over. Julianne has had a runny nose and congestion shortly after getting back from our trip.

Better late than never! We traveled to Maryland for Thanksgiving this year. Julianne did great during the long car ride – except for the last two hours when we got stuck on the Capital Beltway! We stayed with Uncle John and Aunt Bev’s house. Julianne went to Uncle John pretty instantly… must be the family resemblance to Grandpa.

Thanksgiving was at Aunt Patty’s house and it was a packed house! The food was great. I know I ate too much! Julianne was getting pretty grumpy towards the end of the night.

We visited with Kristy, Dylan, and Parker the day after Thanksgiving. Julianne got to go down a slide for the first time and had a BLAST!

On Saturday a big group went to GoApe an outdoor adventure course. Josh did this while Julianne and I went to the outlet mall. We decided to drive home through the night to not be stuck in traffic with everyone else on Sunday. We won’t talk about that night, because I don’t want to relive it. All in all we had a wonderful trip!

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn’t worry whether or not my plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind and my thoughts.
I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child so doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn’t want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn’t stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom,
I didn’t know the feeling of having my heart outside my body..
I didn’t know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby.
I didn’t know that bond between a mother and her child.
I didn’t know that something so small could make me feel so important and happy.
Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
the joy,
the love,
the heartache,
the wonderment,
or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn’t know I was capable of feeling so much,
before I was a Mom.

We had a nice, quiet relaxing weekend. Friday night was our night to cook for friends. We grilled hamburgers. Thankfully, it was actually a nice night to grill. I have been very tired and don’t have a whole lot of energy. We were actually expecting to get our new bathroom vanity in on Saturday, but unfortunately it isn’t scheduled to come in until tomorrow. So since that fell through this weekend we had nothing else planned to do.
It was a beautiful day on Saturday and we ended up taking a motorcycle ride with Josh’s parents and a few of their friends. We rode up toward Canton and ate at a BBQ restaurant. Then we stopped by the Georgia National Cemetary. It was absolutely beautiful and had wonderful mountain views. The ride home was somewhat chilly and my rear was happy to get off the bike.
Today, I did pretty much nothing exciting. Did laundry, went to church, went to the grocery store, and made dinner. Other than that I have been sitting on the couch all day and am still tired! Now we begin another week of work. We have about 2 1/2 weeks until our first ultrasound appointment!
